Part of a series of planned gothic fairytale images. A friend beat me to it last year by staging a similar photograph using barbed wire, so it's not the most original idea but one I wanted to post as it's been on the cards for months! Taken indoors, handheld and lit from a single window to the upper left of shot with a silver reflector to the right, the low light meant using a higher ISO which has contributed some gritty noise. I applied a heavy curves adjustment in Photoshop and converted to mono using an adjustment layer, with the colour of the apple brought back using a layer mask.
