Never Out of Office...

With nothing exciting spotted outside of work, I aimed my camera at a colleague instead.

Private Portraits

Away from my blog I'm looking to make it as a successful amateur portrait photographer, so thought I'd share some of my latest shots. I often stand in to help generate ideas, to look at lines, shapes, lighting and exposure before having the model step in. The nude shot is cropped (full shot taken for an artistist nude competition) to save friends from my exhibitionism!!!

Both taken using a single spot light.

Spiral

It could do with a little more DoF, but I had limited light so it was a compromise.

Spiderfan

Yes, I like spiders!!! This is post 8 of about 15, and although I'm trying to mix up the species photographed, if I see one, I can't help recording it - I think they're fascinating and this one has a particularly nice shadow.

Warped Ladybird

The pattern of the leaf spiraling towards this ladybird made it interesting enough to blog.

I went for a walk around the building today and spotted this tiny little spider scaling the wall at around 300mph. Luckily he stopped just long enough for a portrait.

A New Approach

Venturing out with a friend this weekend I was inspired to dust off my Sigma 105mm lens and try my hand at some proper macro photography. Muddied jeans, a scratched UV filter, multiple nettle stings and a cut leg later and we have my first attempts at trying to capture the insect / arachnid world. All at higher ISO's to compensate for not having a tripod...
